Empowering People with Disabilities Since 1994

CSS provides services in the following type of settings:

Fourteen (14) ICF/IID Community Homes serving eighty-eight (88) individuals. Four (4) of the homes are eight-bed (8) facilities; six (6) of the homes are six-bed (6) facilities: and four (4) of the homes are five-bed (5) facilities. ICF/IID homes are funded with state dollars that are matched with federal funds through the Medicaid system. These homes are licensed by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, certified by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), and funded through the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services. The local County Board of Developmental Disabilities monitors these homes in each county. Eight (8) Children’s Group Homes and apartments provide services to thirty-five (35) children under the age of eighteen (18). These sites are serve four (4) children or less at each location. These homes provide services as a result of funding and monitoring provided by the county Children’s Services Board, they are certified through Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services, and sometimes funding assistance is provide through the local County Board of Developmental Disabilities. The County Board of Developmental Disabilities assists in monitoring Unusual and Major Unusual Incidents. Please refer to the Agency Overview Section for a listing of counties where services for children are currently being provided.

Over four hundred (400) individuals are provided services through the Individual Options Waiver. This is a combination of local county money being matched by federal dollars under the Medicaid system. CSS is a certified waiver provider and the sites are monitored by the County Board of Developmental Disabilities and Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. Approximately twenty (20) individuals are provided services through Supported Living Funds. These services are totally funded through local County Board of Developmental Disabilities funds. CSS is a certified Supported Living Provider and services are monitored by the County Board of Developmental Disabilities and Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. Please view the current Agency Overview Section that lists each county operation and the services provided there.Those individuals who are provided services by funding through the waiver and supported living funds reside at over two hundred twenty (220) different sites located in eighteen (18) Ohio counties. That means that CSS provides services at over two hundred and thirty different locations throughout the state of Ohio in the following counties: Allen, Clark, Cuyahoga, Delaware, Erie, Franklin, Lake, Licking, Madison, Mahoning, Medina, Montgomery, Sandusky, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas, and Wayne.

Over twenty (20) developmentally disabled individuals who are deaf or hearing impaired are served by CSS. CSS employs deaf staff and interpreters to overcome any communication barriers that may otherwise exist.

Two (2) Day Habilitation Programs serving seventy seven (77) individuals are being operated during the day and the evening by CSS. The programs are certified through the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities and focus on such areas as activities, recreation, vocational skills and the learning of daily living skills.
